Winners included the city of Sanford, Kennebunk Savings and Beth Doty, who has volunteered with the organization since 2009. The Maine State Chamber of Commerce presented a leadership award to retiring Thomas College President Laurie Lachance and honored the Lewiston-Auburn Metro- politan Chamber of Commerce for its lead- ership and efforts following the October 2023 mass shooting tragedy in Lewiston. The Institute for Family-Owned Business in Portland announced its annual award winners. McDougal Orchards in Spring- vale won the "Geiger Environmental Leadership Award;" Hussey Seating Co. in North Berwick was the winner of the "M&T Bank Innovation & Technol- ogy Award;" Fishermen's Net in Bruns- wick captured the "Horch Roofing First Generation Award;" Waltz & Sons Inc. in Buxton took home the "Chalmers Insur- ance Group Customer Service Award;" the Bouchard Family Farm in Fort Kent captured the "Shep Lee Community Ser- vice Award;" Main Line Fence in Cumber- land received the "Maddy Corson Small Business Award;" and R.J. Grondin & Sons in Gorham was named the "Renys Large Business of the Year." Northern Light Mercy Hospital in Portland posthumously honored Maddy Corson with its annual "Forsley Award." Corson, a philanthropist and former Guy Gannett Communications board chair who passed away in April, served as honorary co-chair of Mercy's Fore River II capital campaign and helped raise the funds necessary to complete the hospi- tal's expansion. The Maine Justice Foundation in Augusta presented its 2024 annual awards. State Sen. Anne Carney captured the "Howard H. Dana, Jr. Award," Lisa Kay Rosenthal was the "New Lawyer Award" recipient and Chet Randall won the "Downing Award."
