Angus King was named a "Legislator of the Year" by the International Franchise Association, the world's oldest and largest organization representing franchising worldwide. Harbor Burger Shack in Kittery said its "Beef n Reef Lobster Burger" was featured in Forbes. e Michelin Guide recognized eight Maine properties as "One Key" hotels in its latest rankings. e Lincoln Hotel in Biddeford; Camden Harbour Inn; Cliff House Maine, Cape Neddick; AWOL Kennebunkport; Kennebunkport Captains Collection; White Barn Inn & Spa, Auberge Resorts Collection, Kennebunkport; and Blind Tiger Portland, Danforth Street and Carleton Street locations, were included on the list. The University of Maine at Farmington was named a "Best Value" college by the 2025 U.S. News & World Report College Rankings for its academic quality and affordability. e annual national college rankings listed the university No. 8 on the "Best Value" list; No. 5 for "Top Performers on Social Mobility;" No. 11 "Top Public School;" and No. 15 "Top Regional College (North)." Southern Maine Agency on Aging in Portland named EqualityMaine its "Community Partner of the Year" award winner at its Charting the Future Luncheon. Other award winners included Regina Phillips, co-founder of Cross Cultural Community Solutions and Portland City Councilor, as the organization's "Champion for Older Adults" and Kerri Berman as the "Volunteer of the Year Award" winner. Historic New England named Earle Shettleworth Jr. as the recipient of its "2024 Preservation Leadership Award" for his lifelong dedication to pro- moting and protecting history and architecture in Maine and beyond. Shettleworth spent 40 years as direc- tor of the Maine Historic Preservation Commission and six terms (and count- ing) as Maine's state historian. Camden National Bank held its annual Employee Appreciation Event and named Jaimie Worster, senior vice pres- ident, human resource total rewards manager, Portland, as its "Officer of the Year" and Marc St. Pierre, technical support analyst, Gardiner, as its "Stakeholder of the Year." In addition, Amanda Wing, Corey Belcher, Jeremy Blazen, Jody Landrith, Josh Tainter, Katie Rose, Toni Joerres, Brandy Oliver, Liz Braley, Mike Clark, Cole Pendleton, Matthew Tardiff, Brenda Avery and Arissa Egan received "Commitment Awards." Maine Development Foundation announced its "2024 Champion Award" winners. e Finance Authority of Maine College Access and Financial Education Team was named the "2024 Champion of Education and Workforce Development;" Deb Rountree, executive director of rural development initiatives with Eastern Maine Community College and U-Maine- Augusta, was the "2023 Champion of Rural Economic Development;" and Samantha Burdick, communications director with Maine Education Association, received the "2024 Dirigo Rising Young Professional Award." 2024 Justice for Women Lecture presented its "Courage is Contagious Award" to Kim Moody and Fowsia Musse.
