The book taught me about why it is so important to be completely unapologetically me at all times. Favorite movie/podcast/TV show: "Ever After," "The Adventure Zone," "Downton Abbey" Best way to recharge: I am huge reader and currently in the middle of about four books. I can't get enough when it comes to reading. I also am a huge hiker and nature based adventurer. When not in town in Portland, I am likely to be in the mountains or on some body of water with my paddle board. At age 60: I would like to be winding down my career after heading my own nonprofit, and still working on elevating youth voice through authentic commu- nity supports and engagement. I will hopefully also be enjoying time traveling and eating my way around the world. Demonstrating the power of diversity and inclusion Muhammad Humza Khan, 27 Founder and CEO, Inclusion Maine Significant professional accom- p l i s h m e n t : L a u n c h i n g t h e Inclusion Maine Conference, a multiday educational experience to improve talent attraction and retention in Maine. Through the conference, HR professionals, busi- ness executives, nonprofit leaders and government officials learn about improving community and workplace inclusion. Current state of mind: Although the national dialogue and interna- tional conflicts sometimes cause anxiety and fear, I remain optimistic about the future and excited about what is possible. Passion project: One of my passion projects is addressing misconceptions about Muslims and Islam. By providing resources and information, I aim to help overcome some of the biases rooted in misinformation. 'Lightbulb' moment: I realized that diver- sity is the most effective solution to address Maine's workforce needs and its demographic challenges. The state's fastest-growing demographic is diverse populations, with over 130,000 people already living here, and 81.1% growth between 2010 and 2020. Audacious goal: $10 million in annual revenue for Inclusion Maine. Favorite quote: "Raise your words, not voice. It is rain that grows flowers, not thunder" — Rumi Influential book: "The Prince," by Niccolo Machiavelli Favorite TV show: "The Magnificent Centur y" ("Muhteşem Yüzyıl") — a Turkish historical drama series Best way to recharge: Spending time with my family, ordering Indian or Pakistani takeout from local restaurants, and enjoying staycations at local hotels in the Greater Portland area. At age 60: I see myself stepping back into a more passive role at Inclusion Maine, semi-retired and offering support to my children as they establish their careers and families. I also envision being more involved in the community and being a resource for others.
