"My role in the formation and initial years of the foundation is an experience I cherish. e Board of trustees of Central Mass Health Care felt it was imperative to find a way to leave a legacy in honor of the care and compassion the independent physician community in the catchment area of CMHC demonstrated to the needs of their patients and their families. During a time of great change in health care delivery the independent phy- sician community sacrificed their time and financial resources to insure CMHC was successful. e Founda- tion was born with much consternation over whether the organization would be a good steward of the funds generated from the sale. e initial Board of the interim organization Central Massachusetts Corp., Inc. and ultimately e Health Foundation of Central Massachusetts worked tirelessly to ensure the results that have been achieved over the last twenty five years. It is a great honor and love to have been able to fulfill the dream of seeing e Health Foundation of Central Massachusetts flourish. Many of the founding Board Members have passed on but their devotion and ultimate work lives on and is a testament to all those involved."
