72 Janice "Jan" B. Yost, EdD Dr. Jan Yost was the founding President and CEO of e Health Foundation, serving in the role from 1999-2022. She retired in March of 2022. Along with Dr. Abraham Wandersman, Dr. Yost co-developed "Results-Oriented Grantmaking and Grant-Implemen- tation" (ROGG), an Empowerment Evaluation planning and evaluation system to assist e Foundation's grantmaking by focusing on taking evidenced-based strategies to scale by advocating for systems change to sustain the strategies. Dr. Yost previously served as the founding President of the Mary Black Foundation, another conversion foundation, created in 1996 from the sale of a nonprofit hospital. Before working in health philanthropy, Dr. Yost's community service included serving as a Trustee on the Board of the Spartanburg Regional Hospital System. Her earlier career as a college professor and administrator includ - ed serving as Associate Chancellor for University Relations at the University of South Carolina-Spartanburg campus. She's had many professional publications published and is the recipient of numerous awards including Grantmakers in Health's Ter- rance Keenan Leadership Award in Health Philanthropy, and the Worcester Regional Research Bureau's Fairman C. Cowan Municipal Leadership Award. Dr. Yost earned a doctorate in speech education from the University of Georgia. Amie Shei, PhD, President and CEO Dr. Amie Shei joined the Foundation in 2016 in the Vice President for Programs role before being appointed by the Board to be e Health Foundation's second President and CEO following the retirement of Dr. Jan Yost in 2022. Prior to joining the Foundation, Dr. Shei worked in health care strategy and health economics and outcomes research consulting at Health Advances and Analysis Group, respectively, and she also taught community health at Tus University. Her research and writ - ing have been published by varied media outlets and health journals, including the Boston Business Journal, CommonWealth Beacon, Health Affairs, Public Health Reports, and e Boston Globe. Dr. Shei earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Amherst College, a Master of Science degree in Health Policy and Man- agement from the Harvard School of Public Health, and a doctoral degree in Health Policy from the Harvard Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. She received several fellowships to support her dissertation research on the health impacts of an anti-poverty program in Brazil, including a Fulbright Fellowship from the U.S. Department of State.
