The agency is dedicated to connecting job- seekers with employers and enhancing the workforce development system to sustain a robust economy and foster business growth. It offers comprehensive training across all industry sectors, with an emphasis on high-demand industries. Fonseca joined the organization in 2010 as an administrative assistant, progressing Jessica Fenner is a proud Husky. She holds a master's degree in social work and bachelor's degree from the University of Connecticut. Recently, she obtained a certificate of nonprofit leadership from the Harvard Kennedy School. Fenner began her fundraising career working for U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT). Currently, she is the associate director of engagement and campaign initiatives at Yale University. Her work directly supports the "for Humanity" campaign, Yale's most through roles such as case manager, program coordinator and director of strategic planning and development. What's been your biggest professional accomplishment so far in your career? I wouldn't quantify this as the biggest, more-so most rewarding, which was being a case manager for our healthcare job-training program. It allowed me to personally connect with the individuals who walk through our doors. This part of my career serves as my daily reminder of our mission to serve our community and remain grounded. How are you involved in the community? I formerly served on the City of Waterbury's Diversity Council; nowa- days, I am committed to supporting my daughter's extracurricular activities and education to help her develop a strong and positive sense of self. I also support local small businesses. Why do you deserve to be a 40 Under Forty? • As someone who is able to put their per- sonal problems aside and remain focused, I would describe myself as selfless, dedicated and compassionate. • I belong to a niche group of women who deserve representation in the C-Suite world as a young, minority, single mother who started at the entry level of the organization. • I am passionate about taking part in initia- tives that empower individuals to thrive. ambitious fundraising effort. What's been your biggest professional accomplishment so far in your career? My work directly supports the "for Humanity" campaign, a campaign designed to equip Yale's faculty and students with the resources they need to tackle the most critical needs of our time. I am honored to work on behalf of this incredible philanthropic venture. How are you involved in the community? Community service is an important part of my life. I am a member of the CT Arts Foundation board of directors and was appointed to this role by Gov. Ned Lamont. I recently joined the Girls on the Run Greater Connecticut board of directors and am a proud Fellow at Yale University. Why do you deserve to be a 40 Under Forty? • I am committed to elevating the field of philanthropy and highlighting the incredible work underway in the non- profit sector. • I am a proud volunteer and passionate about giving back to communities across the state. • I will be recognized as a 2024 Connecticut's Finest Honoree by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's Connecticut Chapter. I was selected for this honor based on my professional successes and philanthropic spirit to join the fight to cure cystic fibrosis.
