Our firm, which I co-founded, has more than doubled in size. We have acquired two additional central MA estate planning practices, and tapped into practice areas that reflect the challenges of today's society, including a vast special needs practice and professional trustee services for vulnerable populations. From a personnel standpoint, we have both organically and intentionally fostered a workplace culture where our professionals have been able to flourish in their jobs while growing their families and nourishing their personal lives. The pandemic was the ultimate test of this philosophy, and we were delighted to emerge stronger and more cohesive than ever. Our professionals have paid this success forward, impacting our local community and beyond through board service, coaching youth sports and various volunteer work. Being a mom of 4 teenagers/young adults there is one trait that gives me pause; the need for immediate satisfaction. Regardless of if this is in communications, fitness, grades, bank balances etc it seems like the need for immediate results is epidemic. I would tell any young leaders out there, to have patience with achieving their goals. That is not to be confused with sitting back and letting the world pass you by, but have patience in the process. Do not jump from job to job looking for the next best thing. Invest in a good worth ethic and develop both short and long term goals. THEN work your tail off to achieve them. If it takes a few tries to get what you want, that's ok! Another piece of advice I have received and live by is give credit for good work but never give blame for bad work. As the CEO of my organization, nothing gives me more pleasure than to credit the amazing teammates I have, for the work they do. However if something does not go as planned, I own that. It is not the sign of a weak leader to own mistakes, but of an evolved leader.
