Since receiving the 40 Under 40 award in 2015, I've deepened my roots in Worcester County, the place I've always called home. I'm honored to have recently been named the next President and CEO of Webster Five, succeeding Don Doyle upon his retirement in 2025. As the current COO/CFO, I focus on aligning our strategic goals with operational efficiency, overseeing Finance, Retail Lending, Retail Banking, Facilities, Operations and Marketing. Working closely with our talented team, we've implemented initiatives that not only elevate customer satisfaction but also strengthen the region's business landscape. Beyond the Bank, my involvement with the Worcester Community Action Council, Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Worcester Economic Club has allowed me to engage with efforts that drive economic growth and social equity in the region. These roles have provided me with the opportunity to influence initiatives that make Worcester County a more vibrant and inclusive place to live and work. On a personal note, attending weekly family dinners at my father's childhood home in Worcester has continuously reminded me of the importance of community. I'm proud to contribute to the region's prosperity, both professionally and personally, as I prepare to lead Webster Five into the future. Current Title: President and CEO Current Company: Webster Five BRIAN WESTERLIND Class of 2015 How have you contributed to making this region an attractive place to live, work, and do business since receiving this award? My businesses, Lettuce Be Local Food Hub and Maker to Main (M2M) facilitated countless farm to business/consumer introductions establishing a local food system while contributing almost $6 million to the local community. Thanks to United Way of Central Massachusetts (UWCM) who created the Farm to Table to Market to Pantry program, M2M donated local food to El Buen Samaritano food pantry for 4 years. After permanently closing M2M in January, I graciously accepted a position with UWCM to continue my charitable work. At a planned event by community members to honor my work, I continued supporting local farms by raising $7,000 for the MA Farm Resiliency Fund. The Fund aids farms experiencing weather emergencies and was created in 2023, by UWCM, in response to local farms devastated by flooding. Looking back, I realized I not only had a passion for helping underserved communities but furthered that commitment through my business' mission and at UWCM. I've been an avid volunteer. I chaired HYPE 9, presented on countless panels, advocated School to Business partnerships, served the Corridor Nine/495 Chamber board, and helped establish Central Mass Grown. Today, my personal and professional purpose aligns with UWCM's mission and its104 year history of humanitarianism.
