Since 2018, with the help of the MEDC, the City of Marlborough has continued to attract and retain high profile companies such a BJ's, Sartorius, Aspen Aerogels and Moderna, accounting for close to 1,500 new jobs to the market and over $500M in private investment. The live, work, play philosophy has been bolstered by adding hospitality gems such as The Fix Burger Bar, Lost Shoe Brewing and Roasting Company and most recently Wemmy's Kitchen and Lounge to the dining playbook alongside staple events such as the Annual Food Truck and Arts Festival and Restaurant Week. The MEDC has helped the city secure $10M in MassWorks grant funding to help kick-start projects like the new 276-unit mixed-use complex, Alta French Hill, which will be home to 10,000 SF of new retail space, including improvements along the beloved Assabet River Rail Trail. The MEDC has since launched a Commuter Shuttle to help close the last mile gap traveling to and from the Southborough Train Station and continues to educate the public on all things' economic development with a bi-monthly video podcast. Most notably, since 2018, Marlborough has awarded over $500,000 to small businesses looking to set up shop or expand in Marlborough.
