14 Giving Guide 2024 Worcester Business Journal www.wbjournal.com FUTURE GOALS • Leveraging a human development lens we will work to understand the challenges our staff face and create a set of wraparound services to mitigate those challenges and support their journey to career success and overall well-being through PeopleFirst Pathways. We will also extend these supports to the clients we serve. • Support the number of increasing new arrivals to Massachusetts seeking a safe haven in which to build a new life and become contributing members to our communities. • Invest in renovations to Ruth House, our home for young mothers who are working hard to continue their education with the goal to be economically independent for themselves and their children. • Support children who are in need and deserving of a loving family by growing our network of foster families. • Increase the number of donated cars we award to families without reliable transportation who are striving for self-sufficiency. • Encourage people with developmental disabilities to live life on their own terms by providing support to become and remain successful contributors to the communities in which they live and work. FUNDRAISING OPPORTUNITIES Individuals or corporations interested in making a donation or exploring gis of stock, monthly giving, planned giving, sponsorship opportunities or employee matching gi programs are invited to contact our Advancement Department at 774-243-3100 or Advancement@acentria.org. You can also give to a specific program like one listed below. Ascentria through our Immigration Legal Assistance Program (ILAP) helps immigrants, refugees, unaccompanied minors and victims of human trafficking receive legal guidance as they maneuver our complicated legal system to become New Americans. You can find out more about our ILAP program by going to Ascentria's website www.ascentria.org Another unique way to give is to donate your old or unused vehicle to our Good News Garage program where we will refurbish it and award it to individuals and families in need of reliable transportation, which helps empower them to move out of poverty and into financial independence and social stability. Learn more at GoodNewsGarage.org. GIVING OPPORTUNITIES Many of our donors generously give throughout the year when a particular appeal for support resonates with them while others decide to give monthly. Our annual giving opportunities include Giving Tuesday, which is generally the first Tuesday in December or the last Tuesday of November and our Annual Year End Appeal that begins in November and extends to January. We welcome donations from individuals, groups and corporations. Your gi makes it possible for Ascentria to continue to provide a diverse offering of social services to support teen parents, unaccompanied minors, low-income families in need of transportation, immigrants and refugees, seniors, people with cognitive disabilities and those who are managing mental health challenges. If you would like further information on our appeals and/or have an idea of how you would like to give. Please contact the Advancement Department at 774-243-3100 or Advancement@acentria.org VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES Ascentria volunteers find their work to be impactful, interesting and rewarding. Volunteers collaborate with us in many productive and creative ways to enhance organizational capacity, empower our clients and strengthen our Massachusetts communities. Tutoring, mentoring new arrivals or providing professional services are a few examples of how Ascentria volunteers effect real and lasting change in others. Volunteer opportunities exist for individuals, students seeking internships and groups such as corporations, faith communities and special interest groups. Ascentria has a unique program called Neighborhood Support Teams. Volunteers come together as a group to support new arrivals to resettle in the United States.
