An additional $90,000 in grants was also pro- vided from donors with advised funds at the foundation. The town of Camden has completed a $15 million project to improve its wastewater treatment facility at 20 Lions Lane. Much of the work was at the plant and at pumping stations around town. The project also in- volved removal of a main that former- ly conveyed sewage under Camden Harbor. USDA Rural Development funded the project with a grant of $1.4 million and a loan of $12.5 mil- lion awarded in 2019. CEO of Fort Kent credit union to retire After two decades as president and CEO of Fort Kent-based Acadia Federal Credit Union, David Desjardins will retire on July 1, 2025. Joey Cannan, who is execu- tive vice president, will succeed Desjardins next year, the credit union said. Cannan will bring more than 25 years of banking and mortgage industry experience to the role at Acadia FCU. He previ- ously held various management positions with Bangor Savings Bank, including senior vice presi- dent and director of operations. Desjardins was named president and CEO in 2004. Under his leadership, Acadia FCU navigated four mergers, three in the St. John Valley and one in Bangor. Loring hangar to get upgrade With a prospective aerospace tenant in place at the Loring Commerce Centre's Arch Hangar, the massive facility is in line for a proposed $2 million in congressio- nally directed spending for reno- vations. e $2 million would sup- port infrastructure and technolog- ical upgrades to the hangar, with the goal of revitalizing operations for large aircraft maintenance repair, air cargo operations and aircraft testing. When completed in 1949, the 126,000-square-foot hangar was the largest arch roof structure in the country, capable of servicing two B-36 bomb- ers simultaneously. Funding was secured by U.S. Sen. The planned closure of the branch, at 878 Stillwater Ave. near the Bangor Mall, was listed in federal documents and confirmed by a bank spokeswoman.
