"There are about 15 steps in the process, so if we can save 20 seconds on each of those steps, you're talking minutes [that] in our business save lives," says Bill Cyr, LifeFlight's operations director. Analyzing LifeFlight data and other variables, students suggested ways to boost efficiency along with proposals for other improvements at the Bangor- based nonprofit. As the organizations map out the next phase of their collaboration, Professor Dan Koloski notes that "our students do their best work when they're excited and inspired."
