The new $16-million facility will employ more than 300 people with the goal of accelerating tech- nological adoption and innovation, according to a press release issued by the company on Dec. 6. The new global capacity center, located within a WELL and LEED Platinum-certified technology park, will allow the company to take on roles previously outsourced to outside service providers. "India continues to be one of our fastest growing markets and a key location for the talent that we need to drive global customer success and innovation forward," Udit Batra, president and CEO of Waters, said in the press release. Bengaluru, also known as Bangalore, is a rapidly growing tech hub attracting some of the world's most prominent compa- nies, including Facebook, Google, Amazon, and Microsoft. Other tenants of the city's RMZ Ecoworld technology park include Honeywell International, a North Caroli- na-based advanced manufacturer, and KPMG International, a multina- tional accounting firm based in the Netherlands, according to those company's websites. Waters Corp. became one of the first analytical instruments companies to open in India in 1988, according to the release. The company's presence has since grown to more than 430 employees, with the company servicing more than 2,300 labora- tories across the country. – Story by Eric Casey
