First established in 1999, the support center reduced its offerings in the aftermath of the coronavirus pandemic but is now being reinvigorated with new funds to allow for an increase in programming and support offered by GWCF, according to a Feb. 13 press release from the foundation. "The Nonprofit Support Center's relaunch signifies our deep com- mitment to empowering nonprofits with the tools, resources, and networks they need to thrive," Pete Dunn, GWCF president and CEO, said in the press release. "We look forward to working with organizations, stakeholders, and the wider community to advance a more effective and resilient nonprofit sector." The foundation's Nonprofit Ef- fectiveness Grants program will be opened on March 1, offering area nonprofits with financial resources to help fulfill their missions. The foundation awarded $122,000 to 19 nonprofits in 2023, including a $7,000 grant to the Boys & Girls Club of Worcester for its Train the Trainers Leader- ship Development program, and an $8,000 grant to Worcester Youth Cooperatives to help the organization build capacity and financial sustainability, according to GWCF's website. – Story by Eric Casey Pete Dunn
