MDI Bio Lab in Bar Harbor received a $1.6 million federal award to support the expansion of MDI Bioscience, a lab initiative that uses its expertise with animal models to engineer new drug discovery technologies and therapies. The Maine Community Foundation in Ellsworth announced that its Hospice Fund awarded $32,063 to four organi- zations that support hospice services, especially programs that support volunteer and bereavement services in Cumberland and York counties. Bar Harbor Bankshares reported first quarter 2024 GAAP and core (non- GAAP) net income of $10.1 million, or 66 cents per diluted share, compared to $13.0 million, or 86 cents per diluted share, in the same quarter of 2023.
