B10 HARTFORDBUSINESS.COM | APRIL 29, 2024 Suburban Stationers Inc. Suburban Stationers is a business product and furniture supplier, including office, education, janitorial, packaging and break- room supplies. Tell us about your recent accomplishments. In an "old school" industry, such as office supplies, that has continued to decline each year, Suburban has taken a progressive and strategic approach to foster growth by looking at adjacent categories, such as office furniture and packaging supplies, in addition to expanding our physical footprint into the western Massachusetts market. This has resulted in consistent year-over- year growth for the past several years. Our success comes from our people, their dedica - tion, teamwork, and drive to see our company succeed. What are your family values and how do they contribute to your business success? Understanding who we are as a company, maintaining a customer-focused mindset, giving back to our community, and adhering to the Golden Rule of treating others as we want to be treated are key family values that Suburban is built around. Where do you see your business in the next five years? Our five-year strategic plan includes expand- ing regionally and broadening the adjacent category we have expanded into by looking for strategic partnerships and acquisitions that will help broaden the scope of benefits that Suburban provides. 2024 FAMILY BUSINESS AWARDS CATEGORY WINNERS: 1-50 FULL-TIME EMPLOYEES HQ: MIDDLETOWN INDUSTRY: BUSINESS PRODUCTS & OFFICE FURNITURE YEAR FOUNDED & FOUNDERS: 1979, DAVE SHULMAN & RAY BOURRET FAMILY MEMBERS CURRENTLY EMPLOYED AT COMPANY: BOB SHULMAN, PRESIDENT, SON TO DAVE SHULMAN; JEREMY BOURRET, VICE PRESIDENT, SON TO DAVE SHULMAN; DAVE SHULMAN, ADVISOR, FATHER; RAY BOURRET, ADVISOR GENERATION CURRENTLY RUNNING COMPANY: 2ND FULL-TIME EMPLOYEES: 48 PART-TIME EMPLOYEES: 1 WEBSITE: WWW.SUBURBANOP.COM ANNUAL REVENUE: $18+ MILLION Traver Electric Motor Co.
