West Hartford approves 4-building, 322-unit apartment complex on former UConn site T he West Hartford Town Council has granted final approval to a controversial four-building, 322-unit apartment complex on Trout Brook Drive and Asylum Avenue. The project, led by WeHa Development Group East LLC, will trans- form a massive parking lot, at 1700 Asylum Ave., across the street from a former UConn branch campus. The plan includes construction of four, five-story buildings with 115 single-bedroom apartments and 207 two-bedroom units. Twenty-six of the units will be designated as affordable housing. A total of 558 parking spaces will be created. The project is the first phase of a broader redevelopment planned for UConn's former West Hartford campus, which has been vacant since 2017, when the school relocated to Hartford. RENDERING | CONTRIBUTED WINDSOR Window-and-door manufac- turer Marvin has agreed to lease a 185,600-square-foot logistics center under construction in Windsor, according to sources familiar with the transaction. The Minnesota-based company employs more than 7,000 nationally, according to its website. Braintree, Massachusetts-based Condyne Capital Partners LLC is the developer behind the 185,600-square- foot logistics building at 205 Baker Hollow Road, which is expected to be completed by this fall. It's not clear when Marvin will move into the facility, or what it will do there. NEW HAVEN New Haven's oil terminal along the shoreline has been sold as part of a four-parcel Northeast acquisition by a global energy company. Energy supply company Global Partners LP said it has acquired four liquid energy terminals from Gulf Oil Limited Partnership. In addition to the New Haven facility at 500 Waterfront St., the $212.3 million deal includes terminals in Chelsea, Massachusetts, and Linden and Wood- bury, New Jersey, the company said. Global's terminals supply gasoline, distillates, residual oil and renewable fuels to a range of wholesalers, retailers and commercial customers. It was not disclosed how much Global paid for the New Haven site. The property had an appraised value of $7.2 million as of 2022, according to city records. PLAINVILLE Plainville-based switches and circuit breakers manufacturer Carling Technologies Inc. recently sold its 129,506-square-foot manufacturing building on 25.76 acres for $7.45 million. Carling sold the building, at 60 Johnson Ave., to Fifth Continental Properties, a company registered in Wyoming. Town assessing records list Fifth Continental Properties' address as a post office box in Thomaston. That same post office box is the mailing address for Element 119, a maker of ceramic composite nano-coating for automotive, aerospace and marine applications. Element 119 has a production facility in Thomaston and offices in Cheshire. Carling Technologies was purchased in 2021 by Chicago electronics manu- facturer Littelfuse Inc. for $315 million. At the time of the deal, Carling said it had approximately 2,800 employees worldwide, with its headquarters in Plainville and sites in Florida, Texas, Mexico, England, Hong Kong and China.
