U.S. Rep. Jared Golden announced that the Early Childhood Learning Center at the new Margaret Chase Smith Community School in Skowhegan was awarded $1.9 mil- lion in Community Project Funding. The new building will allow for the district to close two elementary schools and repurpose one to sup- port special education and alterna- tive programs and allow 20 class- rooms that currently utilize portable classrooms to move into a perma- nent facility. Norway Savings Bank donated $10,000 to Portland Community Squash in Portland with an addition- al $40,000 committed to the organi- zation over the next two years.
