In his new role, Berkson will be respon- sible for maintaining, strengthening and onboarding rela- tionships in the community. Prior to joining Savings Bank of Danbury, Berkson worked with Heart- land Payment Systems, where he provided payment services for busi- nesses that streamlined processes and helped their bottom lines. West Hartford law firm Gfeller Laurie LLP has named attorneys Robert J. Chomiak Jr. and Chris- tine K. Blethen counsel. Chomiak has more than 25 years of experience as a civil defense litigator, defending manufac- turers, contractors, corporations and municipalities, among other clients, in Connecticut state and federal courts. He handles complex matters involving tort claims, product liability, motor vehicle and trucking law, and premises liability claims. Blethen was promoted from senior associate to counsel and focuses her practice on defending complex commercial disputes, general liability and catastrophic loss claims, property management companies and other commercial establishments, educa- tional institutions and employers in employment matters. Naugatuck-based Ion Bank recently promoted Brandon Baeder to a commercial loan officer. Baeder began his banking career with Ion Bank in the marketing department in 2015. In 2020, he joined the commercial banking team and has since held positions in commercial loan administration, commercial credit underwriting and commercial lending. Architecture, engineering, envi- ronmental and land surveying firm BL Companies recently named four employee-owners to principal. They include: Douglas Campbell, corporate; Dominick Celtruda, engi- neering; Amy Samuelson, architec- ture; and Jesse Vose, architecture. The United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut announced that it has named Clayton Jason chief philanthropy officer. Jason most recently served as senior director of gift planning at the University of Connecticut Foun- dation where he has worked for more than six years. Prior to that, he served in several positions at nonprofit organi- zations and institutions such as Oper- ation Fuel, University of Hartford and the Harriet Beacher Stowe Center. New Haven's Long Wharf Theatre has named Avery Anderson its new director of marketing and communications. Anderson previously served as director of marketing and communi- cations at American Stage Theatre Company in St. Petersburg, Florida. Law firm Pullman & Comley LLC has hired attorney W. Glenn Major as a member of its real estate practice. He has more than four decades of experience in residential and commercial real estate, estate planning and administration, probate matters and zoning law. Engineering and environmental services firm Weston & Sampson recently hired Bob Carr as a senior technical leader in its Rocky Hill office. Carr has over 30 years of experience in all phases of environmental site assessments, release investigations, and the design and permitting of many types of soil and groundwater remediation systems, the firm said. He will be working with clients to provide environmental consulting and remediation design oversight services. He is a licensed engineer in Connecticut, New York and Rhode Island, and a licensed environmental professional in Connecticut. Jason Chapman has been promoted to senior vice president of sales at Red Thread, an East Hart- ford-based office design firm. In his new role, he'll continue to oversee Red Thread's furniture and architectural products businesses in three Connecticut offices in the corporate, higher education and healthcare market segments. He's been with the firm since 2016, and was previously a sales manager with W.B. Mason.
