MEETINGS TRADE SHOWS a commercial real estate development and consulting firm based in Illinois, announced the Feb. 6 approval of the logistic park in a press release issued by the firm March 5. e park will be located at 149-166 Nashua Road and will feature one 253,750-square-foot facility and another 201,000-square-foot facility. JLL, a Chicago global real estate firm, will be the leasing agent for this project. "CDP came to us with a great solution for the last developable industrial parcel in Pepperell," Andrew MacLean, town administrator of Pepperell, said in the press release. "From the early stages, the plan's proposal and approval process included input from the community that was incorporated into the proposed design. CDP is also working to ensure the plan is environmentally sensitive and protects the scenic Nashua River that abuts their property." e project will be developed in two phases, with site preparation and construction of the 253,750-square-foot facility happening in the first phase, and construction of the 201,000-square-foot building occurring in the second phase. Spencer candlepin sold to Acton Bowladrome A candlepin bowling alley, which has operated in Spencer for 58 years, has been sold to another longtime Central Massachusetts candlepin alley operator. Bayberry Bowling Center, located at 338 Main St. in Spencer, has been purchased by Acton Bowladrome Enterprise, the operator of Acton Bowladrome & Arcade, for $800,000. e deal finalized on March 8, according to Worcester District Registry of Deeds records. e alley was purchased from the Bayberry Nominee Trust of Spencer. e 16-lane bowling alley at 338 Main St. was constructed in 1966. In 1975, it changed hands to Bernie Pelletier, who named it the Bayberry Bowling Center. e alley was the first in the state to adopt an automatic scoring system, according to its website. Joshua Sundberg, owner of Acton Bowladrome, told WBJ the owner of Bayberry was retiring and it made sense for Sundberg to purchase the facility. Acton Bowladrome has been open for nearly 60 years, according to its website. Devens green hydrogen factory receives $50M Electric Hydrogen, a company with headquarters in Natick and California specializing in the clean production of hydrogen, has received $50 million in financing for a 187,000-square-foot production facility in Devens. e funding, provided by Arizona- based venture capital firm Trinity Capital, will help fund equipment to be used in the facility, according to a press release issued by Trinity on March 5. Green hydrogen is produced by breaking the chemical bonds of water with the help of renewable energy, according to Electric Hydrogen. e Devens plant will produce up to 50 tons of hydrogen when production begins, allowing for the decarbonization of industrial processes including fertilizer production, steelmaking, and base chemical production. "EH2's cutting-edge hydrogen electrolyzer technology will help our state and country reach our ambitious decarbonization goals, and we're grateful for the company's investment in Massachusetts," Yvonne Hao, Massachusetts economic development secretary, said in a May 2023 release from Electric Hydrogen announcing its intent to build the Devens facility.
