City of Worcester: 300 Years 21 Built in 1851, the Junction Shop is known to be the oldest mill still standing in Worcester. The mill was attractive to small manufacturers because it offered small quarters and steam power at low cost. This allowed young firms to save money on plant space and power during the 1890s. Much of the Junction Shop was occupied by the cereal machine company, an excellent example of adaptive reuse. The Junction Shops were repurposed into apartments in 2016 after falling into disrepair due to lack of use. source: Preservation Worcester source: Polar Park
