6 Harding Green Between 1880 and 1945, the area that en- compasses Water, Harding and Green Streets served as home to Jewish immigrants who had fled the Russian pogroms. These indi- viduals established an ethnic refuge in which they perpetuated the history, customs and traditions of their heritage. During this 65-year period, this section of Worcester, more recently designated the Canal District, flourished, providing opportu- nity, community and stability for Jewish immi- grants.
