the City of Worcester. LPA|A had
begun an ongoing relationship
with the Town of Shrewsbury
when it designed the Floral Street
Elementary School, the first of five
public school projects in the town.
One major project shined a
national spotlight on LPA|A in
2006. The design of the Worcester
Technical High School integrated
all the elements that comprise an
effective and efficient vocational
technical school and became a
model for contemporary technical
high schools. Not only did the school
contain high-tech classrooms
and labs, but it also incorporated
sustainable features that exemplify
maximum energy management.
LPA|A's creative, unique and
energy-conscious design of the
Worcester Vocational Technical
High School earned the firm several
awards in 2007, including the
Massachusetts School Building
Authority, School Building Design
Award; the American Institute of
Architects, Central Massachusetts
Design Award; the School Planning &
Management, Managing Excellence
Award and the Impact on Learning
Award; and the Building Design &
Construction, Building Team Award.
No matter the economic climate,
LPA|A always managed to keep the
business afloat. Throughout the
