58 Dexter-Russell AWARDS AND REWARDS Edmond Neal, who hails from a family of factory workers, understood the stamina and dedication required to show up every day, regardless of weather conditions, time of year or personal situation. So he credited workers with the prosperity Russell- Harrington enjoyed and vowed to reward their dedication. "Without the employees, there would be no company," he said. Many other Russell-Harrington leaders offered similar sentiments. rough the years, the company has found several occasions on which to show its appreciation. Every Christmas, the company has sponsored a party for employees and their families. One year, an appropriate Santa could not be found so Neal stepped into the role. He had little trouble convincing children he was the real Santa, thanks to his full white beard. e company has instituted several other awards, including the Silver Arrow Award for the top salesman; the Russell Cup, which personifies the Russell spirit; perfect attendance awards; Extra Milers for those whose extraordinary help on the job has benefited others; Service Awards; and the Henry Harrington Humanitarian Award, which was created in 1996 to honor employees who help others in need outside the company.
