Dexter-Russell 51
One year into the new century, Russell-Harrington underwent a leadership change.
Alan Peppel, who had joined the company in 1991 and served as area sales manager
that year and was promoted in 1995 first to marketing services manager and then to
director of marketing, was named president and CEO. is appointment continues
the legacy begun by Myron Clemence in 1897 with the acquisition of Hyde
Manufacturing; Peppel is married to Richard Hardy's daughter, Elizabeth (Betsy).
One of the most significant changes occurred when the company name was changed
to Dexter-Russell, Inc. in 2001 to reflect the historical importance of the business and
to honor the brand established in 1884.
In 2010, Dexter and the Hyde Group underwent a reorganization and the companies
split into two separate entities. n
