HARTFORDBUSINESS.COM | OCTOBER 30, 2023 B13 HEALTHCARE HEROES The University of Saint Joseph congratulates Healthcare Hero DNP, FNP, NP-C USJ PRESIDENT, RHONA FREE Christina Mukon Christina is a model volunteer, giving her time and sharing her professional expertise with some of the neediest individuals in the community WINNER CATEGORY Volunteer Pari Forood Vice Chair, Board of Directors, Sharon Hospital Executive Director, Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation Pari Forood is the executive director of the Miles of Hope Breast Cancer Founda- tion, a 20-year-old public charity that funds support services, education and outreach for people affected by breast cancer. She is also vice chairman of the board of Sharon Hospital, chairman of the Salisbury Board of Finance and authored two books. What have been your significant contribu- tions to your organization in the past year? I chair the quality, performance and improvement committee at Sharon Hospital, and I am the vice chairman of the board. We have had a challenging few years like many hospitals, and it is important for this committee and me, as chairman, to stay focused on being the best community hospital we can be, providing the best health care to our community, no matter what else is happening with the network, state or country. I also chair the primary care physician recruitment committee. Tell us about a challenge you overcame. A group of activists were undermining the hospital and its efforts to become stronger financially and organizationally. It was difficult to counter the false claims, and while it was challenging to hold our heads high, as stewards of the hospital's reputation, we do what's best for the health of the hospital, its employees, administra- tors and patients. What's your next major goal and/or challenge? I fear it might be chairing the Sharon Hospital board! Personal Side Favorite way to relax: Walk with my dog, reading, dinner with friends, reading to my 2-year-old grandson, holding my 4-month-old granddaughter, chatting with my sister in California on the phone. Hobbies: Tennis Favorite movie: "Roman Holiday," "Sound of Music," "A League of Their Own" When you focus on what truly matters, great things happen Sharon Hospital Congratulations to Pari Forood, 2023 Hartford Business Journal Healthcare Hero Award winner Heartfelt congratulations to Sharon Hospital volunteer board member Pari Forood, who has dedicated her professional career to helping others and has been recognized with the Healthcare Hero Award by Hartford Business Journal. Whether advocating for women's health or for those needing affordable housing, Pari brings a full heart and intellect to any effort she undertakes. Sharon Hospital is thankful for her invaluable contributions to the hospital and our community.
