2023 WINNER Kim Dawkins President & CEO, Pathways for Change, in Worcester Residence: Worcester Education: Bachelor's degree in fine arts, UMass Amherst Who's career would you most like to emulate? Anyone who boldly strives for social justice, racial equity, and peace; who refuses to be intimidated by naysayers; who courageously does the right thing because it's the right thing to do; and who empowers people to embrace their self- worth. What are the main obstacles women face to success in the workplace? Crushingly, women still face the same main obstacles we did decades ago: lack of representation (due to gender bias and sexism) especially in leadership roles, gender pay gap, sexual harassment, racial discrimination, lack of flexible work arrangements, and exorbitant childcare costs. What advice would you give to a woman just entering the workforce? Follow your own truth. Trust your gut. Believe in yourself. You are enough. Bring your best self to everything you do and every interaction. Seek out support. Find your mentors. Be confident. Be real. Be compassionate. Learn from your mistakes, don't let them define you.
