Jordan has joined Day Pitney as counsel in the law firm's real estate and environmental practice. Jordan, who will be based in the firm's Hartford office, focuses his practice on a range of real estate finance transactions, as well as the acquisition, disposition, financing and leasing of commercial real estate. Jordan joins the firm from Barings LLC, where he most recently served as associate general counsel and managing director. Law firm Day Pitney LLP announced that Kelly J. Cole has been promoted to chief financial officer. Cole, who previously held the director of finance title, is based out of the firm's Hart- ford office. She has been part of the firm's finance team for over 13 years. As CFO, she will plan, direct and control the firm's financial planning and analysis, budgeting, pricing, accounting, forecasting, cash management and billing and collections functions. The Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology (CCAT) has named Amy Thompson its new chief training officer. Thompson will lead CCAT's workforce, training, development and certification programs. She joins the organization after directing systems engineering educa- tion programs at higher education institutions for more than a decade, most recently at UConn. North Haven-based Connex Credit Union has named André Johnson senior vice president and chief information officer. In his new role, Johnson will oversee Connex's information tech- nology strategies, including driving digital transformation. Prior to joining Connex, he held roles at organizations such as General Electric, GE Capital, Dell EMC, and more recently leading his own IT advisory and consulting firm. Saranda Belica recently joined the University of Connecticut as a senior advisor for strategic initiatives with the Office of Research, Innova- tion, and Entrepreneurship. In this new role, Belica will work with a coalition of partners to advance the Quantum-CT initiative, a partnership between UConn and Yale University. The new venture aims to transform Connecticut into a nationwide hub for quantum-related compa- nies across the pharmaceutical, biotech, energy, advanced manu- facturing, insurance and financial services sectors. Belica, who is based out of UConn's Farmington office, previously worked at AdvanceCT, focused on supporting the state's offshore wind sector. Law firm Goldberg Segalla has hired Melissa M. Modzelewski to its civil litigation and trial group in Hartford. Modzelewski was previously with Markey Barrett in Windsor. She counsels and defends clients in a broad range of general liability matters, and has a background in insurance defense and personal injury litigation. The Children's Museum Group in West Hartford has hired Karen Connal as its development director. Most recently, Connal worked at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford as the marketing and communications manager. Prior to that, she held senior positions focused on helping establish and run inner-city/tuition- free independent schools, namely Covenant Preparatory School and Trinity Academy in Hartford. She also has over 20 years of business experience as president and co-owner of Legend Produc- tions, a sports, entertainment and marketing company. Orthopedic Associates of Hart- ford recently welcomed two new physicians to its medical staff: Dr. Cameron Kia and Dr. Jeffrey Olson. Kia is an orthopedic spine surgeon who specializes in both operative and non-operative spinal disorders. Olson is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in complex reconstruc- tive and arthroscopic shoulder and elbow surgery. BioCT, a trade group that represents the state's bioscience industry, has added developer Carter Winstanley to its board. Winstanley is a principal of devel- opment and real estate investment firm Winstanley Enterprises. In New Haven alone, Winstanley has played a key role in acquiring and redevel- oping nearly 3.5 million square feet of commercial real estate, much of it devoted to the life sciences industry.
