As an ecosystem builder, it's extremely reward- ing to connect people to resources, mentors and indi- viduals. It's an honor and a privilege to do this work. Audacious goals: Travel internationally every year. Join an improv group. Start a company. Have a paid board member role. And maybe run for office. Passion project: Helping young women and girls gain confidence, independence, leadership experience, as well as negotiation and public speaking skills. I want to see more women in roles where impactful deci- sions are made. Favorite quote: "I am glad that I paid so little attention to good advice; had I abided by it I might have been saved from some of my most valuable mistakes." — Edna St. Vincent Millay Influential book: "The Defining Decade," by Meg Jay. It's aimed at 20-somethings but applicable in your 30s, too. Favorite movie or series: "Parks and Recreation," "Flea Bag," and I'll always watch "Crazy, Stupid, Love" if it's on TV. How do you recharge: Cooking, walking or working out. But my favorite things are quality time with my partner, Brock, laughing with close friends, or dock time upta camp with my family. Baseball broadcaster with Major League ambitions Emma Tiedemann, 30 Director of broadcasting and play-by- play voice, Portland Sea Dogs Significant professional accomplish- ment: Joining Joe Castiglione and Sean McDonough for an inning on [Boston radio station] WEEI during my first visit to Fenway. The view from the booth was everything I had dreamed it would be, and I can't wait to get there full-time eventually. Audacious goal: To be the radio "voice" of a Major League Baseball team one day. Passion project: My passion proj- ect these days is helping the next generation of broadcasters get the experience of what it's like in a broad- cast booth. This season we started the Kids Takeover the Broadcast pro- motion, which allowed kids from Maine and New Hampshire to interview play- ers and then broadcast an inning of play-by-play with myself. It was so fun to see their eyes light up with excite- ment that I will be continuing this pro- gram for years to come." Favorite quote: "It's hard to beat a per- son who never gives up." — Babe Ruth Influential book: "The Broadcasters," by Red Barber. It paints a wonderful his- tory of baseball and broadcasting while providing lessons and strategies that I still use on the broadcast every night. Favorite series: "30 Rock." Tina Fey is the literal best, and the humor is exceptional as well as the rest of the cast. The dysfunction of their work- place sometimes reminds me what it's like working in Minor League Baseball (in a good way). How do you recharge: I will head out to a beach for a few hours with a good book. If the weather isn't ideal for that, then I will hang out with my husband and dog at a brewery or around the house. My husband is an excellent cook, so I will happily spend time in the kitchen with him while he attempts new recipes. CEO of a business that's mushrooming Eliah Thanhauser, 37 Co-founder and CEO, North Spore Significant professional accomplishment: Growing a company with a mission I care about from a tiny mushroom farm, in a garage in Westbrook to become a national leader in mushroom cultivation supplies with over 70 employees. North Spore helps peo- ple around the world grow mushrooms and engage with the mycological world. I also still work with three of my best friends from college and those friendships have strengthened over the years and not imploded which I feel is an accomplishment. Passion project: A passion project I haven't really started yet but intend to is helping create better public access to shoreland in Maine. That's right coastal land owners, I want to help you share your land with the public. Audacious goal: To win the 2024 Dam- ariscotta Pumpkinboat Regatta, motor- ized division with a mycelium inspired pumpkin boat. Favorite quote: "A person's success in life can be measured by how many uncomfort- able conversations they are willing to have." — Tim Ferris Influential book: "The Alchemist," by Paulo Coelho Favorite movies/TV shows: "Breaking Bad," "Pulp Fiction" How do you recharge: I recharge by garden- ing and working on projects or being by the ocean, surfing, sailing, swimming, boat- ing, kayaking and wing foiling. I love almost anything involving being in or near water. Charting a course for Maine's aging population Megan Walton, 37 CEO, Southern Maine Agency on Aging Significant professional accomplishment: I am honored to lead SMAA in serving older adults and their caregivers, especially in our 50th anniversary year. It has been gratifying to grow SMAA's impact and brand awareness through partnerships with Maine's businesses, and to expand our case management » C O N T I N U E D F RO M P R E V I O U S PA G E P ROV I D E D P H O T O P ROV I D E D P H O T O P H O T O / T I M G R E E N WAY Emma Tiedemann is the play-by- play announcer for broadcasts of the Portland Sea Dogs.
