2024 GOALS In 2023, United Way of Kennebec Valley (UWKV) funded 58 nonprofit and school- based partner programs throughout the 29 towns of Kennebec Valley – helping more than 32,000 people access health care, education and financial stability. In total, UWKV provides support for one in four local people. Every fall, UWKV raises money for these programs through its annual fundraising campaign. Because of heightened levels of need related to the rising costs of living, UWKV has increased its fundraising goal to $1.9 million. Additionally, UWKV is the backbone organization for the Impact2032 move- ment, which unites community members and organizations across all sectors to accelerate change in Kennebec County. In 2023, UWKV aligned its Community Investment Process with the Impact2032 10-year goals – requiring that funded programs also align with one of the three vision statements to advance health, edu- cation or financial stability for all people. Impact2032 enhances UWKV's efforts to produce more measurable results. To join the movement, visit impact2032.org. FUNDRAISING EVENTS/ OPPORTUNITIES Ever y fall, UWKV runs an annual fundraising campaign to support its nonprofit and school-based partner programs. Additionally, United Way hosts several annual fundraising events including: f Golf Scramble, hosted the first Monday of August, is UWKV 's largest fundraiser, raising an average of $19,000 each year. In 2023, 30 businesses sponsored the event and 32 teams played in the tournament. f UWKV's Campaign Kickoff is hosted every September, marking the official launch of the fundraising season. More than 3,500 donors and over 140 businesses pledge support each year. fMovie in the Park is a free, family- friendly, outdoor event hosted in late September and continues the Campaign Kickoff celebration. Used as a second fundraiser for UWKV, monies earned through sponsorship and concessions benefit all 58 partner programs. GIVING OPPORTUNITIES UWKV supports 58 local nonprofit and school-based programs – investing in health, education and financial stability. Many businesses partner with United Way to host annual workplace campaigns, giving their employees an opportunity to support the community through payroll deduction. Businesses can give back to the Kennebec County community by hosting a campaign, making a corporate gift, donating a dollar a day through the 365 Small Business Circle or sponsoring one of UWKV's many events or initiatives. Market research has shown that corporate community involvement helps attract, engage and retain high-performing employees. People who can impact the community through their workplace report higher satisfaction. For more information, visit uwkv.org/give.
