Living
our values
nationalgrid.com
At National Grid, we're committed to creating a work
environment where people are treated fairly and where
everyone feels respected, valued and empowered to
reach their full potential. Our mission is to build a business
that represents, reflects and celebrates the cultures and
communities we serve. We've living our values through:
Workforce Development
Launch of Clean Energy Academy Pilots: Career development and employment
opportunity programs focused on residents from historically underrepresented and
marginalized communities. Underpinned by scholarships and other support, our
programs are tailored to training for work-ready adults, apprenticeships and
mentoring for high school and college-age students, and STEM-based
training and classes for middle schoolers.
Collaboration with secondary education partners: we've
been collaborating with our secondary education partners to
implement internships for high school students. We are also
providing career pathway workshops in partnership with
Franklin Cummings Tech and Dearborn STEM Academy
to inspire and encourage students to consider the
energy sector as a career option.
Economic Opportunity & Growth
Commitment to increase diversity
spend: establishing a goal to increase
our diversity spend by at least 5% year-
over-year.
Grid for Good program: establishing
partnerships with diverse business chambers to
help build capacity of minority-owned businesses,
including providing mentorship to businesses aligned
with our industry, and supporting convening of minority-
owned businesses across sectors to make connections.
