Up to $10 million is available to help communities and other envi- ronmental justice stakeholders in the New England states access federal assistance and resources to address environmental and energy justice concerns. EPA Region 1 includes the states of Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island, and 10 Tribes. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced a $272,000 grant to the Maine Department of Environmental Protection to fund programs to ensure that beachgoers know when coastal waters are safe for swimming and recreation.
