Meantime, the Lottery also recently announced that it contributed $412 million to the state's coffers during the recently ended fiscal year 2023. The quasi-public state agency saw total sales of about $1.7 billion during the fiscal year, of which $1.1 billion was paid out to winning players. Over the last five years, the Lottery has transferred $1.9 billion to the state's General Fund. Mark Pazniokas | CT Mirror This CT town is adopting a four-day workweek Plainville town officials announced the municipality is implementing a new four-day workweek for its employees, a practice growing in popularity within both local govern- ment and the private sector. The six-month pilot program begins Aug. 21, and will require depart- ments to operate for an extra hour — from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Wednesday — but close on Friday. The offices will also close an hour earlier on Thursdays, offering services from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. These changes will impact the Plainville Municipal Center, Recre- ation Department and Youth Services Department, according to the town. Mansfield and Vernon have previously offered similar sched- ules to employees in their towns, and private businesses have been more willing to offer staff a reduced workweek or hybrid schedule since COVID-19 forced remote work on many companies. Arizona College of Nursing launches East Hartford campus The Arizona College of Nursing has officially opened its new location in East Hartford and has begun accepting applications for admission. The college's newest campus, a 30,000-square-foot space at 99 East River Drive, Suite 901, launched Aug. 3, according to Melany Stroupe, a spokesperson for the Arizona-based college. Students can pursue bachelor of science degrees in nursing, including in an accelerated three-year format. It is the college's first foray into New England. It also has campuses in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Michigan, Nevada, Ohio, Texas, Utah and Virginia. West Hartford's Environmental Systems Corp. acquired by national firm A West Hartford-based energy-ef- ficiency company, Environmental Systems Corp., has been acquired by a Maryland-based firm. Fidelity Building Services Group recently announced that it had acquired Environmental Systems as part of a strategic expansion. Fidelity is a national provider of energy-ef- ficiency services, including energy consultation and advanced building system integrations. Environmental Systems provides similar services for clients including commercial, industrial, health care, education, government, utili- ties and municipalities throughout the Northeast. As of 2018, Environmental Systems had 140 full-time employees and two part-time employees. Trinity College plans 48K-sq.-ft. expansion to fitness center Trinity College is asking Hartford land use officials to sign off on the addition of a 48,000-square-foot building to its Ferris Athletic Center. The new, two-story space, on what is now lawn and pathways, will contain a fitness center and office for college staff. The new building will have its own entrance and will be separated from the existing Ferris building by a structurally independent fire wall, according to the application. Trinity spokesperson Kristen Cole could not provide responses to questions concerning the project's cost and schedule, noting that fund- raising is ongoing.
