42 Giving Guide 2023 Worcester Business Journal www.wbjournal.com FUTURE GOALS 1. Promote student learning that fosters independence. 2. Recruit and retain top level staff who reflect DEI values. 3. Expand the impact of NECC's research programs through published research and professional development opportunities. 4. Maximize the use of technology by introducing new e-learning platforms and establishing a technology advisory committee. 5. Provide the highest quality services, including offerings in arts for students, and improved team structure for staff. 6. Disseminate our services, programs, and knowledge worldwide. 7. Ensure the future of NECC through Board of Director growth, evolving leadership, and creating networks for staff, alumni, parents, and community partners. 8. Grow staff skills through professional development. FUNDRAISING OPPORTUNITIES NECC offers several fundraising events throughout the year, each with opportunities for community participation. We are always looking for unique items donated to our event auctions, specifically experiences (a week at a vacation home, airline tickets or miles, a meet-and-greet with a celebrity, private golf course access, etc.). We would welcome any and all contributions (donations, sponsorships, participation, donated auction items) for the upcoming events: 1. Children of Promise Gala (November 10, 2023) 2. NECC Art Show (April 2024) 3. NECC 5K Walk/Run for Autism (May 11, 2024) 4. Carlos Placido Dunkin Golf Classic for Autism (June 3, 2024) GIVING OPPORTUNITIES NECC raises about $2 million annually through appeals, fundraising events, and grants. What these donations fund (through the Annual Fund) includes student activities (like bowling, music enrichment, museum visits, park passes, outings in the community), equipment for the pool, gym, and playground, classroom technology and communication devices, as well as improvements at the student residences. Donated services are welcome, as are clothing, meals, or gi cards. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES Our student population requires staffing ratios that are mainly 1:1, making volunteer opportunities on our campus extremely difficult. However, we so appreciate community volunteers at our fundraising events, and student activities (such as Field Day and Special Olympics). ese opportunities are on a set date and usually last between two to four hours. ey may include helping guests register at a golf event or the gala, or painting faces at the annual Field Day. ¿e New England Center for Children® Jessica Sassi, PhD, BCBA-D, LABA CEO Elizabeth Wetherbee Klein Board Chair Elizabeth Wetherbee Klein, Director of Client Marketing, Solstice Advisory LLC (Chair, Board of Directors) Laura Dudley, PhD, BCBA-D, LABA, Associate Clinical Professor, Northeastern University (Vice Chair, Board of Directors) BOARD MEMBERS Stella R. NECC changes the world for children with autism through innovative educational programs, international consulting and clinics, and the ACE® ABA Soware System. NECC is a top local employer offering professional development and free graduate degrees for staff. Students have proudly worked at area businesses like Beaumont and TJX, thanks to NECC's vocational program. By staffing partner classrooms throughout New England, NECC helps students remain in their school districts. While our family is not directly affected by autism, my kids enjoy being classmates, teammates, and friends with students in these programs.
