I tell this story every year at the reception where we honor the Women to Watch honorees, but it's worth repeating. It was 2008 and at the time our publisher was Donna Brassard and the editor was Carol Coultas. ey were both formidable leaders and were not afraid to ask tough questions. Donna and Carol were flipping through issues of Mainebiz and it became particularly obvious the covers were dominated by men. "Where are the women?" they asked. at started a conversation about how Mainebiz could honor women who were showing strong leader- ship and making an impact on the Maine economy. Women to Watch was born. Since then, we have honored roughly 75 women leaders from publicly traded companies, small busi- nesses, nonprofits, museums, colleges and universi- ties and other organizations. We're excited to introduce this year's class of Women to Watch. e profiles start on Page 10.
