32 HARTFORDBUSINESS.COM | JUNE 26, 2023 Data shows the power of Aetna Premier Care Network Plus Sponsored Content By Duncan Stuart Regional Vice President, Northeast Region, Aetna W orries over the price of health care are nothing new. Employers have regularly voiced their con- cerns about costs which is why more and more employers are choosing high-performance – or narrow network – health plans. These health plans deliver more competitive costs for employers while protecting quality of care for their employees – our health plan members. At Aetna ® we have done the analysis and selected the high-quality providers that employees or their families can see in network in exchange for lower premiums. The best networks deliver savings through access to efficient, high-quality providers. Coupled with a plan design like Aetna Whole Health – Connecticut, this drives member engagement, encouraging the effective use of clinical resources. Aetna was the first carrier to roll out a national high-perfor- mance network. Introduced back in 2016, Aetna Premier Care Network Plus (APCN+) is now one of the most tenured products of its kind in the marketplace. A study on APCN+ reveals details about what a well-crafted high-performance network can deliver, not just to employers but also to plan members. Data analysis* revealed a significant decrease in medical cost trend averaging 14% in the first two years after employers switch to APCN+. The research also showed APCN+ is delivering the value and services that plan mem - bers want. For example, the numbers revealed an increase in the use of virtual care options among those with APCN+. And they maintained a strong use of traditional visits as well. Here in Connecticut, we cover the state with a network of high-value health care providers to serve as the foundation of the innovative Aetna Whole Health – a Connecticut plan that is the market's best example of value-based insurance design. Together, Eastern Connecticut Health Network, the Value Care Alliance (VCA), Griffin Health, the Southern New England Healthcare (SoNE Health) network and ProHealth Physicians offer Aetna Whole Health members in Connecti- cut access to approximately 1,750 primary care doctors, 12,000 specialists, 16 hospitals and 52 urgent care centers and walk-in clinics. "With a focus on preventive care, chron- ic disease management, managing prescription drugs, and physicians with proven positive results, employers and em- ployees realize unparalleled benefits with the Aetna Whole Health approach," states David Marks, MD, Primary Care Physician with Griffin Health. Joining forces with high-value hospitals and physicians has allowed us to be creative and take a smarter and more in- novative approach to health care delivery while introducing financial incentives that make health care more affordable in the state of Connecticut. With Aetna Whole Health – Con- necticut, employers can give their employees access to a local network of primary care doctors, specialists and hospi- tals dedicated to improving health outcomes. *APCN Plus Cohort Study, November 2021 Aetna is the brand name used for products and services provided by one or more of the Aetna group of companies, including Aetna Life Insurance Company and its affiliates (Aetna). ©2023 Aetna Inc.
