Minutillo has 15 years of marketing agency experience. Recently, she led Rebel Interactive's move from South- ington to a newly renovated office building in Cheshire. HHC's acquisition of 2 surgical centers approved, with a condition – it can't charge 'facility fees' The Office of Health Strategy (OHS) recently approved two settle- ment agreements allowing Hartford HealthCare to acquire two outpatient surgical centers in Trumbull and Torrington. The OHS added several stipula- tions to the agreements, including prohibiting the acquired entities from charging "facility fees," which hospitals typically charge in addition to the cost of professional services at surgical centers away from their main campuses. HHC received permission to acquire 70.59% of the membership interests in the Surgery Center of Fairfield County in Trumbull, and 51% of the Litchfield Hills Surgery Center in Torrington. First employee union forms in CT's cannabis industry Employees at West Haven cannabis cultivator Advanced Grow Labs have formed the first union within the state's growing marijuana industry, officials announced. Forty-eight workers at Advanced Grow Labs, owned by Chicago-based multistate cannabis operator Green Thumb Industries, have formed a union with the United Food and Commercial Workers Union (UFCW) Local 919. The company grows cannabis and processes other products at its West Haven facility for Connecticut's medical and recre- ational cannabis markets. Last March, the Connecticut AFL-CIO endorsed the UFCW as the Connecticut Cannabis Union, essen- tially giving it a stamp of approval as a credible group to join. According to union officials, the employees formed their union with a focus on gaining higher wages, improving benefits and securing important workplace protections. UConn student-led venture fund invests $25K in S. Windsor clean-tech company Hillside Ventures, a UConn student-led early-stage venture investment fund, has made a minority investment in a South Windsor-based clean energy company that has devel- oped a super-efficient boiler. Hillside Ventures has invested $25,000 in Enviro Power, developer of the "SmartWatt" boilers, which harness heat and steam that would otherwise be wasted to fuel a turbine generator that produces free electricity. The company started production of its boilers in October, and they have already been installed in a student dormitory complex at Wesleyan University, and in a 25-unit apartment building in Simsbury, among other places. Hartford HealthCare is taking a majority ownership stake in the Litchfield Hills Surgery Center in Torrington.
