Kelly, Remmel & Zimmerman, a law firm in Portland, announced that Sanchita Mukherjee was elected to the Board of Governors of the Maine Trial Lawyers Association. Mukherjee practices fam- ily law, works on a variety of civil litigation cases and represents victims of traffic trauma. Drummond Woodsum, a law firm in Portland, elected Michael-Corey Hinton and re-elected Joanna Brown Tourangeau to serve on its board of directors. Hinton is leader of the firm's tribal nations prac- tice group while Tourangeau is leader of the firm's environmental and natural resources practice group. Benchmark Litigation named Preti Flaherty, a law firm in Portland, as "2023 Litigation Firm of the Year" in the state of Maine. Allen Insurance and Financial in Camden was selected as the "2023 Employee- Owned Company of the Year" by the ESOP Association's New England Chapter. e agency also said Anna Moorman was recognized with a "Gold Level Award" for Medicare supplement sales in 2022 by Anthem, one of the largest Medicare supplement carriers in the state of Maine. e Alzheimer's Association and its advocacy arm, the Alzheimer's Impact Movement, named U.S. Sen. Susan Collins as its "2023 AIM Humanitarian of the Year Award" winner during the 35th Annual Alzheimer's Association AIM Advocacy Forum. In addition, the Council of State Community Development Agencies recognized Collins with its first-ever "Congressional Partnership Award" and Collins received the "Inaugural Mary Tyler Moore Award" from JDRF for her support of the Type 1 diabetes community. Thomas College in Waterville announced that students Daniel Brewer, Gwyn Perlmutter, Grace Johnson, Tanner Herrick, Dmitry Hodsdon and Addison Landon finished third in this year's Society for the Advancement of Management International Business Conference held in Nashville, Tenn. e team placed first in the written case study competition and third in the knowledge bowl and the case study presentation competi- tions. Additionally, Hodsdon placed second in the virtual business pitch competition and Brewer was third over- all in the individual competition. The University of Maine at Augusta said it received certification as a NAADAC Approved Educational Provider for the Graduate Certificate in Substance Use Disorders program. Academic programs with this credential are assured that the credits provided will be accepted toward national credentialing by the NAADAC Certification Commission for Addiction Professionals as well as by many of the individual state licensing/certification bodies in the addiction and other help- ing professions.
