The project is being managed by Benchmark Construction, of Westbrook. Haley Ward, of Bangor, provided architectural, civil, structural and MEP design on the project, as well as surveying and environmental work. Haley Ward reports that the underground utilities have been completed and addi- tional exterior work will begin later this spring. Benchmark is wrapping up the build- ing envelope for the metal building and then will begin pouring the slab on grade to start the mechanicals and building interior. Exterior panels were supplied by Canam. HANCOCK STARTS YARMOUTH EXPANSION In Yarmouth, Penobscot General Contractors, of Rockport, is managing construc- tion of Hancock Lumber's expansion. First, the project entailed tearing down a building adjacent to the Hancock Lumber yard, offices and retail store. The adjacent building had housed a Bank of America branch. The new building will serve a number of purposes. It will have a Marvin win- dow-and-door showroom. It will allow an expansion of the in-store hardware retail area, displays and "project pro" and "counter pro" areas. There will also be office space for Hancock's product management and online teams. The exterior will offer greenspace and sidewalk areas that fit well with Yarmouth's downtown. It's slated for completion by the end of 2023. ZACHAU FORMS ADVISORY BOARD Zachau Construction, of Freeport, formed an advisory board to assist the company in it's the strategic growth and commitment to core values. CEO Jeff Zachau, the second-generation owner, is taking care to ensure that this 54-year-old company continues to operate smoothly. The committee acts in a "purely advisory capacity, offering a depth of knowledge, expertise and community relationships to strengthen our company strategy," Zachau said. "I wanted a group of people that could bring a depth of perspective and expertise to bear on the issues we are navigating." The seven-member board consists of Catherine Cloudman, president of CHC Advisors LLC; Liza Fleming-Ives, executive director of the Genesis Foundation; Steve Mills, CEO of Maine Beer Co.; Adam Nappi, president of Bow Street Beverage/Bow Street Market; Brian Noyes, board chair at R.M.Davis Inc.; Seth Parker, VP of devel- opment at Silver Street Development Corp.; Brad Wise, president of Pro-voke LLC. Zachau Construction held its first advisory board meeting in February. CONSIGLI WORK Consigli Construction, with a Portland office, will be part of the dedication of Bowdoin College's Mills Hall, which was built using mass timber and cross-laminated timber. The event will be April 20. Consigli has two notable groundbreakings coming up. On April 5, it is scheduled to break ground on the conversion of the old University Inn Academic Suites in Orono. The space will be converted to offices for Tyler Technologies. Then in May, Consigli will break ground on the Institute for Digital Engineering and Life Sciences (IDEALS) for the Roux Institute at Northeastern University, at the old B&M Baked Bean factory site. It's expected to be the largest building project in the state in at least the last 25 years.
