B 4 WOMEN IN BUSINESS | HARTFORDBUSINESS.COM | APRIL 3, 2023 Britt-Marie Cole-Johnson Partner Robinson+Cole B ritt-Marie Cole-Johnson is a partner in Robinson+Cole's labor and employ- ment group where she has practiced law since 2008 and was elected to the firm's managing committee in 2022. She offers insightful, forward-thinking and practi- cal counsel and is well-versed in the key responsi- bilities of directors and executives as she supports clients' boards of directors and executives seeking guidance on governance, risk and strategy. She counsels organizations, from startups to Fortune 500s, in many areas of employment law, including workplace investigations, DEI and separations. Gov. Ned Lamont appointed Cole-Johnson to serve on the board of the Connecticut Paid Leave Authority and she was elected to the board of UConn Health. She has been ranked in Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business in the State of Connecticut in the area of labor and employment since 2014 and in the Connecticut Super Lawyers list since 2013. What have been your biggest professional accomplishments so far? My accomplishments include making partner at Robinson+Cole and my election to the managing committee; serving on impactful nonprofit boards of directors (including YWCA Hartford Region, Oak Hill and Teach for America – Connecticut); and receiving several prestigious recognitions (HBJ's 40 Under 40; CT Law Tribune's Distinguished Leader Award; and the NBA's 40 Under 40 Nation's Best Advocates Award). What's one of the biggest professional challenges you've overcome? Making partner at one of the 200 largest law firms in the United States is one of the biggest professional challenges I've overcome. I credit Robinson+Cole's exemplary culture for not only embracing me but celebrating me and providing a platform for success. Who has been your most important mentor and why? Alice DeTora welcomed me to Robinson+Cole and not only mentored, but sponsored me. As a senior part- ner at the firm, she provided me with an impeccable example of practicing with high integrity, staying laser-focused on solving clients' legal challenges and serving others as a leader in the firm. Ann Collette Krantz Chief of Strategy Masonicare A nn Krantz is the chief of strategy for Masonicare, Connecticut's largest not-for- profit senior care company. She is responsible for the development of new and innovative strategies that position the organization for sustainability and growth. In addition, she oversees the company's highly acclaimed, award-winning marketing communications team. As well as leading Masonicare's business and growth strategies, Krantz is the chief of strategy and development for GENM Senior Care Consulting, a division of Masonicare. GENM (Generation Masonicare) specializes in assisting senior and healthcare operators and investors with all aspects of community operations, marketing, development and brand management. What have been your biggest accomplishments? When I joined the company in 2017, Masonicare was struggling financially and facing an ominous end to its legacy work unless changes were made. We developed and implemented a short-, mid- and long-term strategy to reset Masonicare's course. Through the height of a global pandemic, we set in place a strategy to restructure, realign and rebrand a 125-year-old organization. Today, Masonicare is a financially sound and sustainable organization, recognized locally and nationally for the outcomes of our strategic repositioning initiatives. What's the next big goal you want to accomplish professionally? I am passionate about fixing things and about bringing people and processes together to create an impenetrable business model. Through GENM, I work with companies outside of Masonicare that are struggling with a variety of challenges. Leveraging the work I have done at Masonicare, I am excited to help other owner/operators/investors succeed in ways they never imagined possible.
