Subway will continue its presence in Connecticut, with Milford-based employees set to move to the company's modernized headquarters in Shelton later this year. PHOTO | EILEEN ESCARDA Colony Hardware acquires South Carolina-based company Orange-based Colony Hardware Corp. recently acquired New South Construction Supply LLC, which distributes rebar, concrete, masonry, waterproofing products and contractor supplies. Colony is a direct-to-jobsite distribu- tor of supplies and construction materi- als. Deal terms were not disclosed. South Carolina-based New South, which was founded in 1981, has locations throughout South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia and Florida. It has customers in a range of indus- tries, including commercial, residential, industrial, waterproofing, restoration and road-and-bridge contractors. New South will keep its people and locations, and the company plans to add more A r o u n d t h e R e g i o n locations in the southern U.S. Colony Hardware has 59 branch- es across the Northeast, Midwest, Mid-Atlantic, Mid-South and Florida. Sikorsky credit union, McKesson seek to merge Sikorsky Credit Union has applied to the state Department of Banking seek- ing approval to merge with McKesson Federal Credit Union. Sikorsky is based in Stratford, and it also has locations in Bridgeport, Brookfield, Milford, Seymour, Shelton and Trumbull. McKesson has its main office in Stratford, with additional locations at Griffin Hospital in Derby and at Bridgeport Hospital's Milford campus. Under the plan, McKesson, a federal credit union founded in 1937, would merge into Sikorsky, a Connecticut credit union, with the resulting entity to operate as a Connecticut credit union, according to the Department of Banking. e proposed merger needs state approval but is scheduled to go into effect June 30. BioTouch expands, acquires Titan Solutions of Ireland West Haven-based BioTouch, a provider of outsourced medical sup- plies and healthcare industry services, recently acquired Titan Solutions of Shannon, Ireland. Titan Solutions provides logistics, kitting, and life sciences supply chain management services. BioTouch provides tech-enabled logistic technology for medical labs, hospitals, as well as university health systems and independent labs. BioTouch is a portfolio company of Atlantic Street Capital, a private equity firm that invests in lower middle mar- ket companies. Fiber internet headed to Clinton and Westbrook Telecommunications company GoNetspeed has announced that 100 percent fiber internet will be coming to residents and businesses in the towns of Clinton and Westbrook. A privately funded investment of $4.5 million in the towns will bring fiber internet to over 7,300 locations as early as this summer, with construction expected to begin during the spring. More than 30 communities through- out Connecticut already have access to GoNetspeed's services as the company continues to expand throughout the state. IVX Health opens second infusion center in CT A national provider of infusion and injection therapy, IVX Health, has opened a new location in Orange, in addition to its existing facility in Glastonbury. IVX Health's infusion centers treat adult and pediatric patients with mul- tiple sclerosis, Crohn's disease, rheu- matoid arthritis and other complex chronic conditions. e Brentwood, Tennessee-based company's new location in Orange is at 263 Boston Post Road, Suite 7. It announced a forthcoming location in Norwalk, slated to open this summer. Infusion therapy is a method of treat- ing autoimmune conditions. PHOTO | CONTRIBUTED IVX Health Athletic Brewing creates new pre-workout drink Milford-based Athletic Brewing Co. has teamed up with Super Coffee from Austin, Texas to create a new pre-work- out brew called "Suped-Up." e non-alcoholic beer is brewed with coffee and spent brewery's grains. It is an extra dark brew that contains 5 grams of protein. e idea for Suped- Up was created by Athletic Brewing co-founder Bill Shufelt and Super Cof- fee co-founder Jimmy DeCicco. Suped-Up launched in March and will be available for a limited time. PHOTO | COURTESY ATHLETIC BREWING Australia orders 40 Black Hawk helicopters from Sikorsky e Australian and U.S. govern- ments have made a deal for Australia to purchase 40 Sikorsky UH-60M Black Hawks. e deal is valued at $1.95 billion, and deliveries are expected to be made early this year. Stratford-based Sikorsky was awarded its 10th multi-year production contract from the U.S. government last year to build Black Hawks for the U.S. Army and international militaries. e UH-60M Black Hawks will replace Australia's non-Black Hawk multi-role helicopter fleet. e UH-60M Black Hawk features technology such as digital avionics and autopilot, which help reduce pilot workload. PHOTO | LOCKHEED MARTIN Old Saybrook contractor gets 15 months in prison for tax evasion e longtime owner of Old Say- brook-based construction business- es was sentenced in February to 15 months in federal prison for tax evasion. U.S. District Court Judge Omar A. Williams imposed the sentence on Dimitrios "Jimmy" Kassimis, 58, of Old Saybrook, in a proceeding in Hartford. Kassimis must report to the federal Bureau of Prisons to begin serving his sentence April 24. Aer Kassimis serves his sentence, he will be on supervised release for three years. He pleaded guilty to the tax charge back in Novem- ber. Williams ordered Kassimis to pay any outstanding taxes. e government has estimated that he owes the Inter- nal Revenue Service approximately $233,086. Kassimis owns construction-related businesses including Allstate Contract- ing Group and JRC Renovations, both based out of his Old Saybrook home. Middle Eastern family-style dining on the menu at second Pistachio Café With a vision to showcase the cuisine of his native Syria, artist and entrepre- neur Mohamad Hafez recently cut the ribbon on his second Pistachio Café in New Haven. Pistachio Café, at 1245 Chapel St., offers Syrian and other Middle Eastern dishes in a nearly 4,000-square-foot space on the first level of e Novella apartment complex. e first location of Pistachio Café is in the Westville neighborhood, locat- ed in a storefront under Hafez's artist studio. Born in Syria, Hafez is an artist and architect. e restaurant seats up to 120 people at tables, banquettes and in a back room that features a large, upholstered group dining area.
