David Elgarico, who came to take over the Framigham hospital from Oregon, resigned in order to return to the West Coast to be with his family, according to a Jan. 26 statement from Tenet Healthcare, the Texas-based parent corporation overseeing the medical center. Elgarico came to MetroWest from McKenzie- Willamette Medical Center in Oregon, where he was the CEO from August 2018 to June 2022. e CFO at Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester, John Whitlock, will be MetroWest's interim CEO. Westborough manufacturer lays off about 20% of workforce Following the retirement of its founder and CEO and the resignation of one of its executive vice presidents, Westborough display manufacturer Kopin Corp. is restructuring, resulting in about 30 layoffs. Kopin announced the restructuring on Jan. 5, which included the micro-display technology company entering into a business deal with Lightning Silicon Technology Inc., a California company formed by Kopin's Chairman and former CEO John Fan, who retired on Dec. 24. Kopin CFO Richard Sneider told the Boston Business Journal 30 people were impacted by the changes. He said a vast majority of the workers have new positions with Lightning Silicon Technology. e company has about 150 employees. e same day Kopin put out that Jan. 5 press release, Boryeu Tsaur, the company's executive vice president for display operations, resigned from his position. Watertown biopharma expanding into 40K-sq.-ft. Northbridge facility EyePoint Pharmaceuticals of Watertown will construct a new manufacturing facility in Northbridge focused on development and commercialization of therapeutics for severe eye disorders. Among EyePoint's primary developments is EYP-1901, an investigational treatment in clinical trials. e facility will increase and accelerate clinical development and later commercialization of the treatment. e new 40,000-square-foot facility is expected to be operational by the second half of 2024. EyePoint estimates 45 employees will work at the new facility.
