Milford life sciences firm promotes new chief operating officer German life sciences company Rentschler Bio- pharma SE has appointed Christiane Bardroff as the company's next chief operating officer, whose respon- sibilities include overseeing construction work at its Milford location, which is the site of U.S. operations. Bardroff will begin in her new position on Dec. 1, according to the Nov. 15 an- nouncement from the company. Rentschler Biopharma is a biopharmaceutical contract de- velopment and manufacturing organization with locations in Laupheim, Germany, Steve- nage, England, and Milford. Bardroff replaces Ralf Otto, who is now a partner at inter- national business consultant McKinsey & Co. Previously, Bardroff joined the company in 2022 as a senior vice president client program management and in May was named senior vice president of clinical and commercial manufacturing at the Laupheim site. Previously, she oversaw the construction of Teva Biotech GmbH's automated, large-scale biotechnology production facility in Ulm, Germany. FEMA awards UMass Memorial Health $23M for COVID costs e Federal Emergency Management Agency has awarded UMass Memorial Health three grants total- ling almost $23 million to reimburse the organization for costs incurred during the COVID-19 pandemic. e three grants, announced Nov. 18, come on top of the $3.6 million FEMA gave the Worcester-based healthcare provider for operating a field hospital at the DCU Center during the first year of COVID. e first grant, for $11,771,796 reimburses UMass Memorial for personal protective equipment and oth- er materials between February and September 2020, according to a press release from FEMA. e second grant, for $3,228,113 is for on-site COVID testing of 16,080 patients at four UMass Me- morial facilities between March and Sept. 2020. A third grant for $6,855,320 is to cover the cost of providing 107,246 tests to patients and the public between March 2020 and June 2021. Chicago investor buys 100K-sq.-ft. Oxford flex space for $7M Blue Vista Capital Management, LLC purchased a 104,178-square-foot building on a 10-acre lot at 47 Old Webster Road in Oxford for $6.85 million. e building is home to Wilson Language Training Corp., who was the seller. Wilson Language has not given any indication it intends to leave the property. e deal was completed on Nov. 8, according to the Worcester District Registry of Deeds. Neither buyer nor seller returned a request for comment.
