While the region has many successful female leaders, our 10 winners were nominated by their peers as being especially deserving of recognition. One is president of a 70-year-old, family-owned food manufacturer. Another helps businesses throughout the region by connecting them to resources so they can grow. Our honorees also include the chief scientific officer at an area biotech and the provost of a large area university. Another is an executive at a cognitive science and digital health company, leading a team of more than 90 workers. We are honoring a human resources and marketing leader for a large area health corporation, a high-ranking bank executive, and a consulting firm founder and CEO. One of our honorees is a serial entrepreneur who has launched several companies. Yet another leads a Yale community-based program helping teens with their health via video games, a strategy she is using in her company too. Several are lending a helping hand to assist other women, especially minority women, join them in being successful in the business world. New Haven Biz sought nominations for the awards from readers earlier this year, and we received many worthy recommendations. We would like to thank all the nominees and the community members who put their names forward.
