Linda Toscano, Realtor, Page-Taft Compass Linda Toscano, a Guilford resident and Realtor with Page-Ta Compass, was honored in October with the 2022 "Com- munity Service Award" from the New Haven Middlesex Association of Realtors (NHMR). Toscano's community involvement includes found- ing "Gavin and Friends," in cooperation with SARAH-Tuxis Residential & Com- munity Resources Inc. Gavin and Friends is slated to launch in 2023, and it will provide individuals who have special needs with an oppor- tunity to expand their independence and social interactions in a safe envi- ronment. It will feature a sensory room, media/computer center, exercise area, music room, lounge, recreational areas and a mini beauty salon. Toscano also supports Tunnels to Tow- ers, which provides mortgage-free homes and builds custom-designed smart homes for injured veterans, first responders and their families. Toscano was also instrumental in bringing Project Lifesaver to Guilford and other area towns. at program works to help reduce the potential for injury among adults and children who wander due to cognitive conditions, such as Alz- heimer's disease and autism. Toscano has also supported the Dan Cosgrove Animal Shelter, the New Haven Animal Shelter and Branford's Communi- ty Dining Room. Dawn Calvo, CEO of NHMR, said of the Community Service Award, "Linda's record of volunteerism and community involvement exemplifies the Realtor spirit of giving back to the communities we serve and making them better places in which to live." NHMR made a donation to SAR- AH-Tuxis in Toscano's honor. Toscano has more than a dozen years of experience in the real estate industry. Toscano previously owned, built up and sold successful businesses. Carl Russell, Senior Commercial Broker, Pearce Real Estate Carl Russell frequently garners the title of top-producing agent at North Hav- en-based Pearce Real Estate. e agency has seven residential and commercial offices throughout the Great- er New Haven and shoreline areas. Rus- sell, a senior commercial broker, is based out of its Milford office. He specializes in investment analysis and has been in the commercial real estate business for more than 45 years. Russell's key deals in recent months include the June sale of a large parcel of land with two buildings in Orange. Russell, representing the seller, facilitated the sale of 62 Carlson Road, Orange, between Milford-based Carlson Road Limited Partnership and the buyer, ABF Freight System Inc., a short- and long-haul transportation service company. Russell won the 2021 Land Sale Deal of the Year Award from Certified Com- mercial Investment Member (CCIM), an affiliate of the National Association of Realtors. e award was for Russell's sale of a 13.26-acre parcel at 185 Plains Road in Milford. Russell represented the seller and buyer, who bought the property for future expansion or development. Russell also recently represented the seller of 280 Blake St. in New Haven, a 4,806-square-foot, free-standing building in the Westville neighborhood. e buyer was Ian Alderman, artistic director of A Broken Umbrella eatre. In addition to CCIM, Russell is a mem- ber of the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR), and a past president of the Greater New Haven Association of Realtors. Russell has been an assistant ad- junct professor of real estate at New York University. He is also a long-time national senior instructor for CCIM. Clayton Fowler, Chairman & CEO, Spinnaker Real Estate Partners Developer Clayton Fowler has brought new apartments to the Elm City, with more to come. Fowler, CEO of Norwalk-based Spinnaker Real Estate Partners, has said his company loves developing in New Haven, where it has seen strong demand. In August, Spinnaker celebrated the opening of phase two of its Audubon apartment complex in New Haven, and broke ground on the third phase. e opening of the second phase of e Audubon New Haven brought another 135 housing units to the local rental mar- ket, with 66 more units expected when the third phase is finished. In addition to the new apartments, phase two of the project included 6,900 square feet of ground-floor retail space at 335 Orange St. e Audubon's third phase will result in 66 new housing units at 29 Audubon St., including townhomes and larger units for families.
