The sabbatical is a valued perk, grant- ing employees four weeks of fully paid time to recharge when they reach their 10-year em- ployment anniver- sary and every five years thereafter. This year, the com- pany has a record number of employees – 19! – taking their sabbaticals. This is on top of generous PTO and floating holi- days. company's most popular initiatives come directly from employee interests. An example of this is the "Giving Back" program that includes paid volunteer time and charitable donation matching funds. Many employees are involved with giving back to their community. To help support this, Allagash offers 16 paid volunteer hours per year. When employees reach their 16 vol- unteer hours, they join the "16 hour club" and Allagash donates $300 to a nonprofit charity of their choice. Ad- ditionally, Allagash offers $200 in matching funds to each employee to supplement their charitable giving. In 2019, Allagash became a Certified B-Corp. – the first brewery in Maine to achieve this status. Allagash's Pilot Beer Program invites any employee to submit recipes and brew on the company's pilot system with a brewer. Many of those pi- lots go on to be larger production brews. Bagel Wednesdays – bringing in bagels, veggies and cream cheese – are always a fun treat. Allagash partners with Well- Space of Maine to offer employees ac- cess to confidential counseling services at no charge. In addition to a free free, on-site fitness center and an annual fit- ness reimbursement, a "Gear Library" is stocked with surfboards, wetsuits, canoes and paddleboards so employees can try new outdoor sports at no cost.
