W W W. M A I N E B I Z . B I Z 29 O C T O B E R 3 , 2 0 2 2 story is something I'm passionate about and proud of — the culture we've cre- ated is unique and meaningful. An authentic steward of our company's nearly 175-year-old brand and reputation, I love to help build our brand for future generations and com- municate our values to employees, customers, communities and beyond. Passion project: Coaching my two sons' sports teams over the years — from basketball to baseball to soccer. Knowing how influential my own coaches have been in my life, it's been spe- cial to be able to have an impact in their lives in a different role, as "Coach," along with all their friends and teammates. Audacious goal: Learn how to fly and get my pilot's license. Favorite quote: There is a voice inside of you That whispers all day long, 'I feel this is right for me, I know that this is wrong.' No teacher, preacher, parent, friend Or wise man can decide What's right for you — just listen to The voice that speaks inside. — Shel Silverstein Influential book: "The Seventh Power: One CEO's Journey into the Business of Shared Leadership," by Kevin Hancock (for real, though!) Favorite movies/ TV shows: "The Departed," "Forrest Gump," "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation," "The Lion King," "Entourage" How do you recharge: Getting outside — run- ning, skiing, boating; watching the sunset; and family time, vaca- tioning and traveling are my favorites! An innovator with a vision for Maine's aquaculture sector B y P e t e r V a n A l l e n Sara Rademaker, 37 President, American Unagi Significant professional accomplish- ment: Easily my biggest professional accomplishment is building the largest eel farm in the U.S., but it has been tackling all the hurdles that lead to this farm that feel like more of the accom- plishment. Taking the thought of build- ing an eel aquaculture farm in coastal Maine from an idea in one woman's head, to a few eels in a basement, to the completion of a 27,000-square-foot farm in Waldoboro with an incredible team of people connected to it is some- thing I'm incredibly proud of building here in Maine. Passion project: Flower gardening. Audacious goal: It was building an eel farm, so I'm brainstorming the next goal. Favorite quote: "If we hope to change the conduct of human society, from our current patterns of profligate consump- tion to a future condition of sustainable living, then we need to start at home — with knowledge and action. We need to open our eyes to the won- der of life around us, then roll up our sleeves and work to help save our own corner of the planet from despair." — Don Hudson Influential book: "Cosmos," by Carl Sagan Favorite TV show: "True Blood" How do you recharge: Time in the woods. 888.627.2662 mascomabank.com CONGRATULATIONS Amberlynn!
