Audacious goal: Grow Por tland's real estate footprint in the innovation space and put the city on the map as one of the leading life science and tech hubs in the Northeast. Favorite quote: "I have come here to chew bubble- gum and kick ass. And I am all out of bubblegum." โ€” George Nada, "They Live" (1988) Influential book: "The Smartest Guys in The Room," by Bethany McLean and Peter Elkind Favorite movies/TV show: "The Count of Monte Cristo" How do you recharge: Spending time at my home in Biddeford with my wife, two boys, two dogs, one cat, four goats, four sheep, 12 ducks, two turkeys and 15 chickens. Cooking on rainy days to recharge B y B r i d g e t R e e d M o r a w s k i Nate Wildes, 32 Executive director, Live + Work in Maine, Founder, Flight Deck Brewing Significant professional accomplishment: Finding balance. It's taken a bit of luck, a bit of work, and some great mentors along the way. But I genuinely feel as though my "work" isn't work. It's what I've chosen to dedicate time to, because it brings fulfillment and impact to our community. When challenging moments arise, as they do every day, coming from a place of dedication rather than obligation has helped me learn how to be a more thoughtful and balanced leader. Instead of work/life balance, it's just ... balance. Work is a part of life, and in life most of us must work, but that doesn't mean they need to be in con- flict with one another. At least, that's what I work on trying to achieve most days (after my first cup of coffee). Passion project: I can honestly say that my roles at Live + Work Maine and Flight Deck allow for a genuine expression of pas- sion every day. From working to improve local food access to reforming childcare business models, my day-to-day is filled with topics and missions that I'd volunteer my time for anyway. (Shh, don't tell my bosses). Audacious goal: I want to make and maintain friendships on all seven continents. Favorite quote: "Do, or do not. There is no try." โ€” Yoda I n f l u e n t i a l b o o k : "Freakonomics," by Malcolm Gladwell. It showed me that to be effective, it takes a deep under- standing of your options and a fear- lessness of change. Favorite TV shows: "Only Murders in the Building," "Maine Cabin Masters" How do you recharge: I love cooking on a rainy day or hik- ing and snowshoeing with the dogs and my wife, Jamie. It takes a team to make healthcare work. We're glad Randy Albert is on ours. Congratulations Randy.
