This year we celebrate the Golden Anniversary of Shalom House. We opened our doors in 1972 with the first of its kind halfway house in the state of Maine for adults living with severe mental illness. Li le did our founders know they were crea ng a model that would be the archetype for the range of suppor ve residences we operate today. We honored this occasion with the opening of Mellen Street, our latest residen al treatment program. It is one of our largest group homes to date with 12 beds, 6 supported apartments and a carriage house with 4 independent apartments. Our mission s ll stands strong today as we offer providing an array of mental health services and housing op ons that help people lead stable and fulfilling lives in the community. HOUSING SERVICES We provide a choice of affordable, safe housing ranging from group living and supported housing to independent apartments. Shalom House also administers housing subsidy programs to individuals who qualify. MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES We offer community-based services to help our clients gain the skills and confidence they need to achieve their own goals and to successfully reintegrate into the community. THE SHALOM ART PROGRAM Opening doors to self-expression through the crea ve process. Our studio provides a safe, suppor ve environment where ar sts can freely explore and express ideas, learn new skills and discusver their strenghts and abili es.
