Notable projects covered by the investment are in Hermon, Pittsfield and Sidney. The center provides science, technology, engineering, arts and math program- ming for the community's youth as well as offering literacy and other skill- building classes. The Maine Justice Foundation in Hallowell awarded grants from its Racial Justice Fund to seven Maine groups for 2022. The goal of the fund is to support Black, Indigenous and People of Color statewide to forge social, systemic and economic solutions that will address racism and inequities in our culture, organi- zations and systems. The University of Maine at Farmington launched six Early College Pathways programs that offer high school students a free opportu- nity to take a group of three to five courses in a specific major or pro- gram to earn college credits. A Bar Harbor inn plans comeback from fire e owner of the Bluenose Inn, which was partially destroyed by a fire last February, has asked the Bar Harbor Planning Board for approval to rebuild on the property. e proposal calls for construction of a four-story hotel building with a 9,725-square-foot foot- print in the approximate location of the former Bluenose Inn structure. e new building would have 21 suites, less than half the 45 guest rooms the old property had. e Bluenose Inn, which is owned by Lafayette Bluenose LLC in Bangor, was closed for the winter and no injuries were reported when the fire destroyed one of the property's two buildings in a blaze that drew fire companies from more than a dozen area towns. Lafayette owns 30 hotels in Maine and New Hampshire, and holdings include the Holiday Inn by the Bay in Portland, six Fireside Inns in Maine and the Senator Inn & Spa in Augusta. Trenton manufacturer plans expansion e owner of a Trenton-based Tempshield, which manufactures protec- tive gear for ultra-cold environments, found room to expand right across the street from its existing facility. e buyer, 16 Industrial Way LLC, acquired 12-16 Industrial Way from RM Revocable Trust for $1.2 million. e property includes a 10,000-square-foot industrial building on 2.6 acres. Tom Dunham and Greg Hastings from the Dunham Group brokered the sale."Our business is such that we need more space for manufac- turing," said Jim Woldenberg, who owns Tempshield. Woldenberg expects to be operational in the new facility by the end of 2022, or early 2023. e site will be dedicated to cutting operations, while sewing and assembly will be expanded in the existing facility.
